Law enforcement officers, especially patrol officers, are constantly being asked to step in and resolve disputes in family situations, residential situations and business environments. The way these non-violent disputes are handled often determines whether a non-violent dispute may later become violent. How the officer handles disputes also reflects (either positively or negatively) on the officer, the department and the community.
This seminar offers suggestions and practical application for mediating disputes in these and additional situations. Attendees will learn basic mediation and negotiation skills and will practice these skills through roll-play in a variety of dispute situations. The techniques learned in this seminar will equip officers with additional job skills to resolve effectively the ever-increasing number and scope of disputes encountered on the street, in the home and at work.
