In the United States law enforcement officers are killed or seriously injured every day. Officer safety and retention is a critical issue for most departments and requests for prevention training has increased in the past five years.
This course examines information on how and why officers are attacked and/or killed. It is based on three FBI studies, reflected in the publications, "Killed in the Line of Duty" (1992), "In the Line of Fire" (1997), and "Violent Encounters" (2006). Case studies of actual assaults will be reviewed and practical preventive measures will be discussed.
Instructor: Dr. Lou Harris (FBI retired); 25 years investigator and relief supervisor, Chair of the Criminal Justice Department, Faulkner University; certified APOST instructor since 1986; co-author of three books and numerous articles.
Cost: NO COST TO PARTICIPANTS
